Jónsi lays it on thick with the ambience stacking layers right on top of last. Listening to Obsidian is like floating lifelessly through the dark unknown while sounds and events slowly drift by you giving you small glimpses into life. Close your eyes and let yourself escape into a meditative state while you absorb all the light instrumentals, dreamy vocals, and hints of beautiful sounds from nature. Obsidian might not reset your definition of soft ambient music, but it does earn a spot on the shelf reserved for those moments of needed relaxation.
